The song, which is featured in gangster film Shootout at Wadala, has been awarded a U/A rating, The Times of India reports.
Tanuj Garg of Balaji Motion Pictures, the producers of the film, said: "After submitting 'Babli Badmaash' for certification, we were informed that it would get an 'A' because it was an item track. We informed the board that the industry was not aware of such a rule and that it would warrant a discussion between both parties.
"We were later told by the CBFC that there was no blanket directive and songs would be certified according to their content."
The song was originally granted an 'A' certificate after a women's body complained about the representation of females in item songs.
However, the CBFC's revising committee overturned the decision, certifying the song with a 'U/A' rating.
In the video, Chopra is seen dancing in a club setting wearing an 'LED suit' which was reportedly inspired by Amitabh Bachchan's 'bulb suit' in Yaarana.
The 30-year-old star has reportedly been paid Rs 2.8 crores for the item number, which has been described as having "glamour... but no vulgarity".
The story of gangster Manya Surve, Shootout at Wadala has an ensemble cast including John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Tusshar Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut. It is directed by Sanjay Gupta, and is scheduled to release on May 1.
